Horseracing is actually the largest sporting employer in the UK. When people think about Horseracing, the first job that comes to mind is being a Jockey. In fact, there are hundreds of job roles available in the industry.

It is normal for parents to have concerns about their child getting into Horseracing. It poses so many questions, for example, what if they get injured? How will I know the skills will be relevant for their future? These are all normal worries for parents and guardians to have, which is why in Season 2 of our Race to your Career podcasts we spoke to two parents to get their point of view!

Parents Nikki and Jayne discuss their children’s journey going through the British Racing School and how they supported their child through the process. They talk about what it was like engaging with the racing industry, applying to the racing schools and their thoughts on what it is like working in a racing yard. You will find out about the challenges along the way and the support they received.

Season 2 of the Race to your Career Podcast is available to listen or watch now on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music or Apple Podcasts!
